King’s business is family affair for years

Things were rough for a while after Dore King and husband, Tony, lost their jobs.

But they came to see this as part of God’s plan for them.

If this had not happened, they probably would not own their own business today, almost 20 years later, she said.

Wanting their boys to “grow up with a dad that was as big a part of their lives as mom was,” they began operating a car sales business out of their home.

The Kings’ three boys — Blaine, Branon, and Brody, now 19, 18 and 13 respectively — grew up around the business, said their mother, “so they know a lot about basic mechanics and the detailing that goes into getting a vehicle ready for the lot. Our boys all help at some level with the different aspects of running our business.”

Branon shoots photographs of their vehicles for the company website because he has a steady hand, he said.

“They are well-rounded young men,” Mrs. King said. “They also know about housecleaning and cooking.”

“Many men today don’t even know how to change a light bulb,” King said. His teen sons are helping him build a new home for their family’s business.

“As long as they eat at our table, they will help where it’s needed, and hopefully with a cheerful attitude,” Mrs. King said. “That may sound harsh but sometimes it’s necessary. It builds character and a good work ethic.”

On a lighter note, she added, “All kidding aside, we love our boys and love having them around (most of the time).

“Our family’s ‘life verse’ is Proverbs 21:21, ‘He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.”

“Who knows what the future holds,” Mrs. King said. “But being there for each other is what it’s all about.”

The Kings hope to have their new offices at 9100 Shelby County 11 in Chelsea finished by the end of the summer.

They are presently open for business on an appointment basis, specializing in low mileage vehicles still under factory warranty.

Vehicle photos and information can be found on their website, Kingsqualitycars.com.
