84-year-old Pelham man accused of killing 77-year-old wife set to appear in court Wednesday, June 23

An 84-year-old Pelham man charged with stabbing his 77-year-old wife to death May 14 is set to appear before Judge Dan Reeves June 23 at 8:30 a.m.

William Virgil Proctor has been charged with murdering his wife, Gwendolyn Elizabeth Tuggle Proctor.

Officers were called to the Proctor home in the 1300 block of Caliston Way in Ballantrae at approximately 3:25 p.m. May 14 when a neighbor discovered Proctor in the home with his deceased wife.

Proctor was questioned at the home and was arrested after admitting to stabbing his wife.

He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
