Victim airlifted after early morning wreck
An early morning wreck June 28 in Westover caused one victim to be airlifted to the hospital, and caused traffic to be backed up on U.S. 280 for more than an hour.
The wreck happened at about 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of Shelby County 51 and U.S. 280 when a vehicle and a motorcycle collided.
Following the wreck, a Lifesaver helicopter crew airlifted one of the victims to UAB Hospital, where the victim remains in unknown condition, said Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Division Commander Ken Burchfield.
As of June 28, Alabama State Troopers were still investigating the incident.
