Local students named to UM honor societies

Forty-five Shelby County students recently earned spots on a trio of national honor societies during the University of Montevallo’s Honors Day.
The university named 13 local students to the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
Shelby County Phi Kappa Phi initiates were Candace Casey and Jamie Rawls, of Calera; Charles Foster, Cristin Foster, Lauren Mitchell and Leigh Williams, of Chelsea; Jacqueline KenKnight, of Helena; Vadim Ismakaev, Jason Linden, Adrian Lucas and Tabitha Stott, of Montevallo; and Lan Anh Huynh and Daniel McCall, of Pelham.
Seven local students also joined the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, which is composed of the top 25-35 percent of UM’s junior and senior classes.
Omicron Delta Kappa initiates were Stephen Hyde and Candyce Osburn, of Alabaster; Tami Goff, of Indian Springs; Amber Naramore, of Maylene; and Kouri Allen, Mary Czeskleba and Vadim Ismakaev, of Montevallo.
Twenty five local students also recently entered the Golden Key honor society, which is composed of the top 15 percent of UM’s seniors and juniors.
Golden Key initiates were Rachael Gorecki, Jordan Martin, Valerie Seay, Amy Swindle and Megan Traweek, of Alabaster; Tara Bradley, Steven Franks, Kaitlyn Jackson, Jamie Rawls, of Calera; Lauren Mitchell, of Chelsea; Robert Britt, of Columbiana; Alan Evans and Holly Parker, of Helena.
Emily Daniel, Denis Gichoya, Corey Gros, Vadim Ismakaev, Alex Kovalsky, Jeremy Lathem, Jaclyn Morlan, Petra Strohmeyer and Pavel Teterin, of Montevallo; and Daniel McCall, Linh Tong and Sarah Watters, of Pelham.
