The Hoover Police Department is cautioning residents about unexploded fireworks after several fireworks shows held over the July 4 weekend produced duds.

According to a press release from the police department, the company that put on the shows notified the city that some of the fireworks used did not go off correctly. Officials are attempting to locate unexploded fireworks.

Shows were held at the Hoover Country Club, the Riverchase Country Club and the Greystone Country Club.

The fireworks are powerful enough to cause injury if disturbed. One type looks like an inflated balloon, while another is a large cylinder with a fuse attached.

The department requests if residents see anything that could be unexploded fireworks, call 911 immediately and do not touch or move the object.
