An Alabaster resident recently earned a degree from one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges.

Austin Lyman recently earned a bachelor’s degree in international languages and cultures during St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s graduation ceremony.

St. Mary’s, which is located in St. Mary’s City, is Maryland’s only public honors college, and has been ranked as one of the country’s top public liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report, Kiplinger’s and The Princeton Review.

The school also has the highest four-year graduation rate among the state’s public colleges and universities.
