Seven juveniles ranging in age from 13 to15 are in custody today after being charged with a burglary in the Dearing Downs subdivision in Helena on the evening of Thursday July 22.

At approximately 10 p.m. last night, Helena police received a call of a possible burglary in process at a residence in the 1400 block of Secretariat Drive in Dearing Downs, according to a press release from Deputy Chief Tim Carter.

When police arrived, they found an open window, and entered the residence to find seven juveniles (four white males and three white females).

All the juveniles live in Helena, but none live at that residence, according to the press release.

All seven were charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, and were transported to the Shelby County juvenile detention facility in Columbiana.

The Helena police department is not releasing the names of those charged because of their ages.
