Coosa Valley Academy baseball coach Bobby Hughes was honored as the Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A Coach of the Year recently by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association.

Hughes led the Rebels to the AISA Class 1A championship in 2010. The championship was the second AISA Class 1A baseball title in school history.

The 2010 Coosa Valley baseball team will receive their championship rings during a ceremony at halftime of the Rebels’ preseason scrimmage Aug. 20 against Springwood.
