Montevallo High School will have a memorial for former coach Richard Gilliam on Aug. 27 before the Bulldogs’ season-opening contest with rival Calera at Richard Gilliam Field at Theron Fisher Stadium.

The ceremony will take place around 6:45 p.m., right before the opening kickoff.  The school plans to give Gilliam’s family a scrapbook composed of stories, thoughts, photos and articles about Gilliam, who passed away in a car accident in April.

Any players, students, parents, teachers and principals that were influenced by Gilliam at Verbena, Calera, Montevallo or Briarwood Christian are invited to send their stories or thoughts to Tena Niven c/o Montevallo High School 980 Oak St.  Montevallo, AL  35115.
