High school volleyball roundup: Oak Mountain completes season sweep of Pelham

The Oak Mountain High School volleyball team completed a season sweep of Pelham in Class 6A, Area 10 matches following a 25-10, 25-16, 25-21 win over the Panthers in the second area meeting between the two teams Sept. 23.

Samantha Skinner led the Eagles with 11 kills. Skinner also added eight blocks and two service aces.

Emily Cosgrove chipped in 10 kills, five digs and four blocks for Oak Mountain, which improved to 33-12 overall and 4-0 in Class 6A, Area 10.

Sara Goodwin recorded seven kills, nine digs and three service aces. Lauren Dasher contributed seven kills, five digs and two blocks.

Chelsea Payne finished with a team-high 30 assists to go along with two kills and four digs. Marisa Reese added nine digs.

Porsha Tolbert led the Panthers (19-15, 2-3 in Class 6A, Area 10) with 12 kills.

Dana Allen recorded a team-high 10 digs. Sydney Days registered 17 assists and two service aces.

Spain Park sweeps rival Hoover

Katie Best led the Jaguars with 12 kills in a 25-17, 25-23, 25-23 sweep of rival Hoover.

Best also chipped in nine digs. Kendall Carlis contributed eight kills and three service aces for the Jaguars, who improved to 14-19 overall.

Sydney Fritz recorded six kills and nine digs. Kylie Beaubien finished with three kills and three blocks.

Abbey Morgan added seven digs. Mary Grace Drum contributed three blocks.

McKenna McLain recorded a team-high 26 assists to go along with five digs.

Briarwood sweeps Chelsea in area match

Katie Briley led the Lions with 12 kills and 12 digs in a 25-23, 26-24, 25-12 sweep of Chelsea in a Class 5A, Area 7 match.

Kate Carter added six kills, 12 digs and four service aces for Briarwood, which improved to 11-9 overall and completed a perfect 4-0 record in Class 5A, Area 7 matches.

Claire Carter chipped in 12 digs and seven assists. Adeline Reiser recorded a team-high 22 assists.

Emily Handley led the Hornets (8-15, 3-2 in Class 5A, Area 7) with four kills and 15 digs.

Courtney Campbell registered 13 digs. Jesse Vohler contributed a team-high eight assists to go along with three kills and two service aces.

Indian Springs sweeps Leeds

Ambria Hardy led Indian Springs with seven kills in a 25-10, 25-9, 25-6 sweep of Leeds in a Class 3A, Area 8 match.

Hardy also chipped in three digs and three service aces for Indian Springs, which improved to 10-8 overall and 3-0 in Class 3A, Area 8.

Lauren Plouff recorded a team-high eight digs, 15 service aces and 12 assists.

Montevallo falls to Chilton County

Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs with 14 kills, 20 digs and three blocks in the Montevallo’s 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-25 loss to Chilton County.

Sarah Hyde chipped in five service aces.

Maryann Lee contributed 11 digs. Kathryn Ray recorded a team-high 12 assists.

Vincent swept by Ragland

Randee Isbell led the Yellow Jackets with six kills in a 17-25, 14-25, 10-25 loss to Ragland.

Kiara Cohill added five kills. Amber Shaw led Vincent with 24 digs and three service aces.

Rachel Johnson recorded a team-high 12 assists.

Hope Christian sweeps The Rock

Hannah Lane led the Eagles with five kills in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-10 sweep of The Rock.

Teenie Donlin chipped in a team-high six service aces. Somer Howe added five service aces and four assists.

Melinda Mahan also recorded four assists.

Evangel defeats T.H.E.

Elizabeth Ragland led Evangel with eight kills in a 25-16, 18-25, 26-24, 25-13 win over the Tuscaloosa Home Educators.

Rainey Ketcham and Erica Williams contributed six kills each. Meghan Byrd led the Lightning (12-0) with seven service aces.

Ragland and Byrd led Evangel with four digs each. Kate Foster recorded a team-high 12 assists and Mariah Lawrence chipped in 10 assists.
