High school volleyball roundup: Thompson swept by Oak Mountain

The Oak Mountain High School volleyball team defeated Thompson in a Class 6A, Area 10 match Sept. 30.

Oak Mountain swept its area foe 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.

The Eagles improved to 40-14 overall, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Class 6A, Area 10 matches.

Samantha Skinner led Oak Mountain with 11 kills. Skinner added five digs.

Ashton Slawinski added seven kills and recorded four digs. Sara Goodwin finished with five kills and a team-high 11 digs.

Chelsea Payne recorded four kills, six digs and a team-high 25 assists.

The Warriors dropped to 9-16 overall and wrapped up Class 6A, Area 10 play with a 1-5 record.

Haley Davenport and Hailey Schatz led Thompson with seven kills.

Davenport added three blocks.

Pelham defeats Spain Park

Dana Allen led the Panthers with 14 kills in Pelham’s 25-20, 25-14, 14-25, 25-16 win over Spain Park.

Porsha Tolbert added 13 kills.

Hayden Tucker recorded 13 digs. Sydney Days finished with 28 assists.

Alexis Veal and Bradleigh Smith chipped in two service aces.

Katie Best led the Jaguars with 10 kills.

Best added eight digs.

Kylie Beaubien recorded eight kills and three blocks. Kendall Carlis recorded six blocks and six service aces.

McKenna McLain finished with a team-high 26 assists to go along with 12 digs and three service aces.

Evangel Christian sweeps The Rock

Elizabeth Ragland led the Lightning with five kills in Evangel’s 25-19, 25-12, 25-7 sweep of The Rock.

Rainey Ketcham and Erica Williams added four kills each.

Ragland added six service aces. Meghan Byrd contributed five service aces.

Mariah Lawrence led Evangel with seven assists.

Hope Christian defeats Alabama/Georgia Christian

Teenie Donlin led the Eagles with six kills in Hope’s 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-3 comeback win over Georgia/Alabama Christian School.

Kelsey Thompson added four kills. Hannah Lane led the Eagles with four service aces.

Somer Howe led Hope with five assists. Melinda Mahan added four assists.
