The Montevallo High School volleyball team defeated area foe Northside to clinch the Class 3A, Area 7 regular-season championship Oct. 4.

The Bulldogs dispatched Northside 18-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-22 to clinch the area title and earn the right to host the Class 3A, Area 7 tournament.

Amber Cardwell led Montevallo with 22 kills and 31 digs in the victory.

Mallory Anderson added 11 kills and 26 digs. Kathryn Ray recorded a team-high 18 assists to go along with 14 digs and one block.

Montevallo closes the regular season Oct. 5 by hosting area opponent Hale County.

Chelsea sweeps Childersburg

Chelsea Tyson led the Hornets with eight kills in Chelsea’s 25-8, 25-16 sweep of Childersburg.

Emily Handley added three kills and five digs. Jess Vohler contributed five digs.

Courtney Campbell finished with a team-high nine service aces.

Hope Christian swept by Evangel Family

The Hope Christian School volleyball team was swept in match against Evangel Family Christian Academy of Montgomery.

Teenie Donlin and Brooke Machen led the Eagles with three kills each in Hope’s 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 loss to Evangel Family.

Donlin added two service aces in the victory.

Hannah Lane recorded three blocks. Somer Howe and Melinda Mahan chipped in three assists each.

Ashleigh Callahan led Hope with four digs.
