Vincent tops Isabella in homecoming win

The Vincent High School football team overcame a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter to pick up a 14-10 win over Isabella in a Class 2A, Region 4 contest on homecoming night.

Demauntey Johnson scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with two minutes remaining in the game and found receiver Ryan Kelow open on a pass play for the 2-point conversion to give the Yellow Jackets a 14-10 lead and seal the win.

Ben McKinney scored Vincent’s first touchdown in the game on a 4-yard run in the second quarter.

McKinney led the Yellow Jackets (5-2 overall, 5-0 in Class 2A, Region 4) with 136 rushing yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Shacorry Lilly added 70 yards on 13 carries.

Johnson rushed for 5 yards and a touchdown on two carries and completed one pass for 14 yards.

McKinney led Vincent with nine solo tackles. Lilly added five solo tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Vincent will travel to Thorsby for a Class 2A, Region 4 contest Oct. 15.
