Oak Mountain High School suffered its sixth loss in seven games in a 42-14 defeat to Mountain Brook on Oct. 8 at Heardmont Park.

A week after notching their first win of the season, the Eagles struggled to get the offense going and managed just two non-offensive touchdowns.

“We made too many errors that put us in deep holes,” Oak Mountain coach Jeff Harris said.

Oak Mountain jumped out to an early 14-7 lead in the first quarter thanks to a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Bradley Bostick and a 19-yard scoop-and-score fumble recovery by linebacker Andy Whitcomb.

The lead quickly evaporated after the offense stalled for the majority of the night.

“We played good defense for a while,” Harris said, “but (the offense) went three-and-out for most of the game. It wore out our defense.”

The Eagles (1-6 overall, 1-4 in Class 6A, Region 6) host Homewood in another Region 6 contest Oct. 15.
