WESTOVER — Senior centers throughout Shelby County gathered in Westover Oct. 13 for an afternoon of fellowship and music. The Westover Senior Center hosted the third annual Music in the Park at 10 a.m. in Westover Park. The event included lunch and entertainment provided by the Vincent High School and Vincent Middle School choirs.

Both choirs preformed separately and together while senior center members ate lunch and socialized.

Annette Tyler, the event’s coordinator, said Music in the Park is an important part of the senior center’s calendar every year. She said Westover is proud to have started the event and is always happy to host the other centers in the county.

Several senior centers travelled to Westover to attend the event, including center members from Calera, Vincent and Columbiana.

Jo Mann, member of the Westover Senior Center said her favorite part of the event is socializing with the other centers.

“It’s a lot of fun,” she said. “We get to meet so many people and the music is always great.”
