Evangel pounds Heritage Christian

The Evangel Christian School football team closed its regular season with a 62-0 shutout win over Heritage Christian.
Hayden Bell and Pete Sullivan led the Lightning with three touchdowns each in the victory.
Brown led Evangel (7-4) with 48 rushing yards. Sullivan added 44 rushing yards. The duo scored two touchdowns each on the ground.
Brown added a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown. Sullivan also returned an interception 50 yards for a score.
Nathen Scott threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Grant Webster and scored on a 39-yard rushing touchdown in the win. Charlie Bell kicked a 26-yard field goal and Evangel recorded two safeties in the win.
Cameron Cohill led the Evangel defensive effort with eight tackles, including two for a loss.
The Lightning meet rival Hope Christian in the Alabama Christian Sports Conference championship game Oct. 29.
