Jaguars end regular season with loss to Clay-Chalkville

The Spain Park High School Jaguars jumped out to an early lead on the road at Clay-Chalkville before falling 35-23 in their final regular season game Oct. 29.

Alex Roberson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 6:40 left in the opening quarter and Jake Hoffman added the extra point to give Spain Park an early 7-0 lead.

Hoffman added a 38-yard field goal and Reid Reinagel hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Nick Mullens in the second quarter as the Jaguars pushed their lead to 17-7 heading into the locker room at halftime.

Zak Michael reeled in a 31-yard touchdown pass from Mullens in the fourth quarter, but Clay-Chalkville outscored the Jaguars 28-6 in the second half to earn the come-from-behind victory.

Mullens completed 15-of-24 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Spain Park (5-5) will travel to Tuscaloosa County in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs Nov. 5.
