A 20-year-old Pelham resident died early Nov. 13 after his vehicle overturned in a Tuscaloosa apartment complex parking lot.

Brandon Allen Bailey, a student at Shelton State Community College and graduate of Pelham High School, was pronounced dead at the scene after his blue Chevrolet Tahoe flipped in the parking lot of the University Village apartment complex off 31st Street.

The wreck happened at about 3:05 a.m., and the Tahoe was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” when it flipped and struck multiple other vehicles, said Tuscaloosa Police Department Officer Brent Blankley.

Although five passengers were also in the vehicle when it flipped, none of them were injured in the crash.

The Tuscaloosa Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is still investigating the incident.

Bailey was the son of Sheila Bailey Parker and Greg Bailey, of Pelham, and his funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 18 with burial immediately following in the Bryan Memorial Cemetery on Valleydale Road.

Bailey’s family has set up a memory fund for him at the First Commercial Bank of Pelham. All donations will be used to establish a college fund for his nephew.
