High school basketball roundup: Spain Park girls top Clay-Chalkville

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team picked up its second win in the Snead State Community College Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 26 following a 52-39 win over Clay-Chalkville.

The Jaguars raced out a 17-0 lead after the opening quarter and cruised to victory.

Colby Ryan led Spain Park (4-1) with 16 points. Ryan also grabbed five rebounds.

Whitney Gulledge added 14 points.

Spain Park defeats Auburn in tournament

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Auburn 57-41 in the Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic at Vestavia Hills on Nov. 26.

Rembert Martin led the Jaguars (2-2) with 14 points.

Mitchell Holt added 11 points.

Calera falls to Homewood in tournament

The Calera High School boys’ basketball team fell to Homewood, 89-52, in the semifinals of the Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic at Vestavia Hills on Nov. 26.

Deondre Haynes led the Eagles (2-1) with 24 points.

Titus Adams added 10 points.
