Get your questions answered

You may notice we have launched a new feature this week on page 3A called “Please Fix.”

For this feature, we are offering readers the chance to identify problems on public property in your neighborhood, such as broken street lights, missing letters on public buildings or unkempt public property. Take a photo of the problem and send it to us at news@shelbycountyreporter.com along with a description of the problem.

It is our hope that by publicizing these problems, it will bring such problems to the attention of the correct public officials and lead to the problems being fixed.

We are also launching a feature called “You Asked.” We’re opening up a space on the opinion page for readers to ask any question about Shelby County. If your question is selected, we will talk to those who might have an answer and publish the information we receive.

We want our readers to see the Shelby County Reporter as a public forum as well as a place to gather news. That’s why we provide an opinion page every week, why we publish as many comments and letters to the editor as possible and why we strive to be a productive, contributing member of the community around us.

Please, if you have a question you want answered or a problem you see that needs fixing, let us know about it by calling us at 669-3131 or e-mailing us at news@shelbycountyreporter.com. We feel the “Please Fix” and “You Asked” features will only strengthen our bond with Shelby County and its citizens, and we hope you agree.

The We Say is the opinion of the Shelby County Reporter editorial board.
