Mary Decker Seagle

Montevallo

Mary Seagle departed this life on Jan. 1, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. A memorial service has been arranged for
Wednesday, Jan. 5 at The University of Montevallo’s Carmichael Library at 4 p.m.
Mary was born on Sept. 24, 1949 and raised in Jefferson City, Mo. In 1982 she relocated to Montevallo where she met and married her soul mate Kenneth A. Seagle on Feb. 14, 1983. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1998. Also preceding her in death were her mother,
Edith I. Decker; sister, Sandra Schmitz; and a grandson, Ozzie C. Jones.

Mary spent many of her working years as a stay at home mom and her most proud accomplishment is her children. Mary’s passion for
literature and learning inspired her to spend many years as a volunteer at Parnell Library. Mary spent the last ten years
working as a Library Assistant at Carmichael Library, University of Montevallo. She found tremendous personal reward helping
students and faculty find books, reference articles or just some good humor. Mary shared her passions with everyone including art,
music, jewelry making, needlework and good ole “coffee shop” politics talk.

She is survived by her daughters, Rae Wansing, Paige Wansing Jones and her husband Jasen Jones all of Osage Beach, Mo.;
one son, John W. Seagle and his wife, Leslie Seagle, of Centreville; a grandson Peter Wansing, of Olean, Mo.;
 a granddaughter, Zoe Jones, of Osage Beach, Mo.; one niece, Alea Leeteg of Seattle, Wash.
 In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the University of Montevallo’s Carmichael Library or The American Cancer Society.  Rockcofuneralhomes.com.
