High school wrestling roundup: Jaguars top Clay-Chalkville

The Spain Park High School wrestling team defeated Clay-Chalkville 41-35 in a dual meet Jan. 6.

Eight Jaguars won their individual matches against Clay-Chalkville.

Andres Galindo of Spain Park earned an 8-4 decision over Colton Friday of Clay-Chalkville in the 119-pound match. The Jaguars’ Conrad Hathcoat earned a 15-3 major decision over the Cougars’ Jack Dobbins in the 135-pound match.

Spain Park 140-pounder Brandon Stanley pinned Jac Lauderdale of Clay-Chalkville in the 140-pound match. Spain Park’s Blake Daniel earned an 18-5 major decision over Joe Wimes of Clay-Chalkville in the 171-pound match.

Kameron Ricks of Spain Park pinned Clay-Chalkville’s Fred Dunn in 5:42 in the 215-pound match. Jackson Cotney, Tommie Broadwater and Mo Mills of Spain Park each won by forfeit.

Shelby County falls to Fultondale

The Shelby County High School wrestling team fell to Fultondale 60-24 in a dual meet Jan. 6.

Four Wildcats recorded wins in their individual matches against Fultondale.

Chase Weeks of Shelby County pinned Hunter Miller of Fultondale in 152-pound match. The Wildcats’ Luke Miller pinned Stanley Pearman of Fultondale in 171-pound action.

Shelby County heavyweight Jacob Oliver pinned Cody Powers of Fultondale. Joey Guthrie won his 215-pound match by forfeit.

Calera falls to Moody in dual meet

The Calera High School wrestling squad fell to Moody 53-14 in a dual meet Jan. 6.

Three Eagles won their individual matches against Moody.

Christian McDonald of Calera earned a 7-1 decision over Matt Arnwine in the 112-pound match. Jarrett Seiger earned a 16-0 technical fall over Moody’s Casey Cook in the 119-pound match.

Coby Mize of Calera pinned Moody’s Colby Carpenter in 1:10 in 152-pound match.
