The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team defeated Hoover 47-39 on the road Jan. 12 in its Class 6A, Area 10 opener.

Demarcus Threatt led the Warriors (13-8 overall, 1-0 in Class 6A, Area 10) with a game-high 25 points.

Threatt also grabbed six rebounds in the victory.

Spain Park edges Vestavia Hills

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team edged Vestavia Hills 46-44 in a Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 12.

Steven Lawson led the Jaguars (15-6 overall, 2-0 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 12 points in the victory.

Thompson falls to Hoover in area opener

The Thompson High School girls’ basketball team fell 77-14 on the road at Hoover in its Class 6A, Area 10 opener Jan. 12.

Asia Anchrum led the Warriors (8-8 overall, 0-1 in Class 6A, Area 10) with four points.

Spain Park defeats Vestavia Hills

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team defeated Vestavia Hills 57-43 in a Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 12.

Whitney Gulledge led the Jaguars (13-9 overall, 1-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 14 points.

Ashley Gaston and Jessica Freeman added 12 points each. Tori Morgan led Spain Park with six rebounds.
