Felmon “Sonny” Leon Dorough

Bakersfield, Calif.

Felmon Leon Dorough “Sonny” passed away on December 21, 2010 in Bakersfield, Calif.

He was born on January 6, 1931 in Detriot, Mich. He grew up in Columbiana, and graduated from Shelby County High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on a minesweeper, the U.S.S. Incredible.

He was district manager for United Insurance in Bakersfield, Calif., and retired in 1993.

He loved sports including baseball, football and billiards.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Cosper Dorough and Leon F. Dorough; son, Richard Dorough; and step-son, Derek Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara DeLemos Dorough; sons, Jeff and Greg; daughter, Doreen; mother of his children, Diana Boghosiah Dorough; step-son, Doug Wilson (Angela); grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kristy), Jason, Ryan (Krista), Dustin (Lupe), Casey (Ade) and Kristen; great-grandchildren, Dante, Berlyn, Ethan, Alexander, Elijah, Sierra and Kyse; sisters, Betty Bird (Buddy), Mary Ann Thompson, Patsy McCombs and Nancy Moore (Wilburn); and brother, Mike Dorough (Linda).

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Doughty-Calhoun-O’Mera Funeral Home in Bakersfield, Calif. with Pastor Mark McGinty of Calvary Baptist Church in Arvin, Calif. officiating.

Burial was January 3, 2011 in Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno, Calif.
