Calera wrestlers drop matches at Weaver Duals

The Calera High School wrestling team dropped two matches Jan. 25 at the Weaver Duals.

Calera fell to Saks 36-33 in the Weaver Duals. Six Eagles won their individual matches against Saks.

Brian McDonald of Calera pinned Jonathan Oliphant of Saks in 1:55 in the 103-pound match. Calera’s Jarrett Seiger pinned Saks’ Patrick Raether in 20 seconds in the 119-pound match.

The Eagles’ Austin Dowdy pinned Stephen Snyder of Saks in three minutes in the 125-pound match. Jake Thomas of Calera pinned Saks’ Tyler Burnett in 1:30 in the 135-pound match.

Calera’s Coby Mize earned a 4-0 decision over Trent Jackson of Saks in the 152-pound match. Shawn O’Neill of Calera won the 140-pound match by forfeit.

The Eagles fell to host Weaver 50-9 in the dual meet. Two Calera wrestlers won their individual matches against Weaver.

Seiger earned an 11-6 decision over Will Mizic of Weaver in the 119-pound match. The Eagles’ Danny Diaz pinned Macklin Crook of Weaver in 1:45 in the heavyweight match.
