Oak Mountain falls to Vestavia Hills

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ basketball team fell to Vestavia Hills 45-37 in high school basketball action Jan. 31.
Madison Pierce and Mackenzie Garmany led the Eagles (17-7) with 11 points each in the defeat.
Pierce grabbed seven rebounds. Garmany finished with two rebounds.
M.K. Shealy contributed six points and seven rebounds.
Vestavia Hills used a full 10-man rotation and physical on-ball defense to wear down the Eagles.
Oak Mountain fought back from a 11-7 first-quarter deficit to tie the contest at 29-29 after three quarters. However, the Rebels’ defense was too much in the end as Vestavia Hills outscored Oak Mountain 16-8 in the fourth quarter to clinch the victory.
