Shelby County wrestlers top Chelsea in Wildcat Wrap-Up

The Shelby County High School wrestling team defeated rival Chelsea in the Wildcat Wrap-Up meet Jan. 29.

Shelby County defeated Chelsea and Chilton County in the meet. The Wildcats fell to Grissom and Brookwood in the meet.

Seven Shelby County wrestlers won their individual matches against Chelsea.

The Wildcats’ Nathan Herrington pinned Michael Early of Chelsea in the 140-pound match. Chase Weeks of Shelby County pinned Damian Tinney of Chelsea in the 145-pound match.

Shelby County’s Jeffrey Hughes pinned Zakary Van Der Geest of Chelsea in the 152-pound match. Jonathan Perrine of Shelby County won the 135-pound match by forfeit.

The Wildcats’ Keaton Wood won the 160-pound match by forfeit. Stephen Erhart of Shelby County won the 189-pound match by forfeit.

Shelby County heavyweight Jacob Oliver won by forfeit.

Four Chelsea wrestlers won their matches against Shelby County.

The Hornet’s Shane Paramore pinned Luke Miller of Shelby County in the 171-pound match. Michael Waller of Chelsea won the 103-pound match by forfeit.

Blake Travelstead of Chelsea won the 119-pound match by forfeit. Chelsea’s Chandler Wood won the 125-pound match by forfeit.

The Wildcats defeated Chilton County 42-30 in the meet. Seven Shelby County wrestlers won their individual matches against Chilton County.

Weeks pinned Caleb Mims of Chilton County in the 145-pound match. Hughes pinned Dylan Moseley of Chilton County in the 152-pound match.

Oliver pinned Chilton County’s Chase Brown in the heavyweight match. Noah Dorough of Shelby County won the 103-pound match by forfeit.

Perrine won the 135-pound match by forfeit. Herrington won the 140-pound match by forfeit.

Miller won the 171-pound match by forfeit.

Shelby County fell to Grissom 67-12 in the meet. Two Wildcats won their individual matches against Grissom.

Hughes pinned Jonathan Sledd of Grissom in the 152-pound match. Perrine won the 135-pound match by forfeit.

The Wildcats fell to Brookwood 60-18 in the meet. Three Shelby County wrestlers won their individual matches against Brookwood.

Hughes pinned Brookwood’s Joel Kladifko in the 152-pound match. Oliver earned a major decision over Rocky Davis of Brookwood in the heavyweight match.

Miller won the 171-pound match by forfeit.
