The Thompson High School wrestling team swept matches against Gardendale and Clay-Chalkville in a dual meet Feb. 1.

The Warriors defeated Gardendale 66-3 in the meet. All 14 Thompson wrestlers won their individual matches against Gardendale.

Matthew Gilson of Thompson earned a 12-6 decision over Scotty Clements of Gardendale in the 103-pound match. Thompson’s Cody McDanal pinned Clay Downer of Gardendale in the 119-pound match.

Brewer Gilliland of Thompson pinned Gardendale’s Brandon Roberts in the 130-pound match. Hayden Franklin of Thompson earned a 9-4 decision over Bradley Bowen of Gardendale in the 135-pound match.

John Austin (J.A.) Jones of Thompson pinned Chase Downer of Gardendale in the 145-pound match. Nick Hall of Thompson earned a 1-0 decision over Andrew Todd of Gardendale in the 152-pound match.

Cahman Holder of Thompson earned a 9-7 decision over Drew Smith of Gardendale in the 171-pound match. Jesse Masters of Thompson pinned Matthew Robles of Gardendale in the 189-pound match.

Thompson’s Jimmy Miller pinned Zachary Kolb of Gardendale in the 215-pound match. Thompson heavyweight David Capers earned a 4-1 decision over Daniel Adkins of Gardendale.

Austin Gould of Thompson won the 112-pound match by forfeit. DeMario Haynes of Thompson won the 125-pound match by foreit.

Cody Albarado of Thompson won the 140-pound match by forfeit. Jonathan Berry of Thompson won the 160-pound match by forfeit.

Thompson defeated Clay-Chalkville 77-0 in the dual meet. All 14 Warriors won their individual matches against Clay-Chalkville.

Gould pinned Spencer Gargus of Clay-Chalkville in the 112-pound match. McDanal earned a 13-3 major decision over Justin Moore of Clay-Chalkville in the 119-pound match.

Haynes pinned Clay-Chalkville’s Zachary Kennemur in the 125-pound match. Gilliland earned a 5-4 decision over Ashton Jones of Clay-Chalkville in the 130-pound match.

Franklin pinned Jack Dobbins of Clay-Chalkville in the 135-pound match. Hall earned a 7-2 decision over Trey Belvin of Clay-Chalkville in the 160-pound match.

Holder earned a 19-3 technical fall decision over Joe Wimes of Clay-Chalkville in the 171-pound match. Masters pinned Fred Dunn of Clay-Chalkville in the 189-pound match.

Thompson heavyweight Jack Scott pinned Josh Melton of Clay-Chalkville. Gilson won the 103-pound match by forfiet.

Albarado won the 140-pound match by forfeit. Jones won the 145-pound match by forfeit.

Berryhill won the 152-pound match by forfeit. Capers won the 215-pound match by forfeit.
