Evangel Christian takes down Hope Christian in ACSC semifinals

The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated rival Hope Christian School 65-42 in Alabama Christian Sports Conference tournament semifinals Feb. 11 at Samford University.
The Lightning (19-1) will face the Tuscaloosa Home Educators in the ACSC championship game Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Samford.
DaJon Townson led the Lightning with 16 points.
Mark Underwood added 15 points. Andrew Frazier chipped in 11 points. Aaron Walker contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.
Terrance Moore led Hope Christian (14-10) with 12 points. Moore also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and recorded five steals.
Caleb Douglas added 11 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists. Blake Thomas chipped in eight points. Seth Burnham contributed six points and five rebounds.
Pete Thomason finished with three points, five rebounds and three assists. Brandon Fuller finished with two points.
Evangel Christian outscored the Eagles 13-0 in the second quarter while forcing 17 first half turnovers with full-court pressure defense.
