Vincent tops Fultondale to reach championship game

The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team defeated Fultondale 78-47 in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A, Area 10 tournament semifinals Feb. 11 on its home floor to clinch a spot in the tournament championship game.

The Yellow Jackets (22-6) will host Holy Family Catholic School in the Class 2A, Area 10 tournament championship game Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. Vincent split two regular season meetings with Holy Family as each team won on the opponent’s home court.

Anterio Rogers led Vincent with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the floor, including a 6-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. Rogers also finished with four rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Keyon Wallace added 19 points and 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Wallace also had three steals and a blocked shot. Ben McKinney chipped in eight points, three rebounds and a blocked shot.

Bruce Hamilton flirted with a triple-double as he finished with seven points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

The Yellow Jackets utilized their pressure defense to build a 39-14 lead heading into the locker room at halftime. Vincent pushed its lead to 61-25 by the end of the third quarter and coasted to victory.
