Nine Oak Mountain High School wrestlers qualified for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state tournament following a section meet Feb. 12 at Hewitt-Trussville High School.

The Eagles racked up 132.5 team points at the section meet and finished third overall in team standings.

Freshman John David (J.D.) Peden, freshman Logan Dollins, freshman Jared Godfrey, sophomore Jacob Parker, junior Vincent Kimbrough, senior Jeff Back, sophomore Conrad McBee, junior Justin Woodall and sophomore Lloyd Time will each wrestle in the Class 6A state tournament Feb. 17-19 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

Woodall will enter the state tournament as a section champion. Woodall, who will enter the state tournament with a 68-2 record in individual matches, won the 189-pound individual championship at the section meet.

After receiving a bye in the championship quarterfinals, Woodall pinned Matt Robles of Gardendale in the semifinals. Woodall won by forfeit over Sotiri Christopoulos of Hewitt-Trussville in the 189-pound championship match.

Three Oak Mountain wrestlers finished runner-up at the section meet.

Peden, who will enter the state tournament with a 58-11 record in individual matches, finished runner-up in the 103-pound weight division.

After receiving a bye in the championship quarterfinals, Peden pinned Spencer McChesney of Hewitt-Trussville in the semifinals. Peden dropped a 10-3 decision to Jake Smith of Pell City in the 103-pound championship match.

Parker, who will enter the state tournament with a 39-19 record in individual matches, finished runner-up in the 130-pound weight division.

Parker earned a 11-0 major decision over Adam Marsch of Homewood in the championship quarterfinals and earned a 6-2 decision over William Letzer of Mountain Brook in the semifinals. Parker was pinned by Ashton Jones of Clay-Chalkville in the 130-pound championship match.

Back, who will enter the state tournament with a 47-20 record in individual matches, finished runner-up in the 160-pound weight division.

Back pinned Trent England of Gardendale in 3:59 in the championship quarterfinals and earned a 13-6 decision over Trey Belvin of Clay-Chalkville in the semifinals. Back was pinned by Marcus Elkins of Hewitt-Trussville in the 160-pound championship match.
