Shelby County ends season with loss to Talladega

The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team fell to Talladega 104-61 in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 tournament semifinals Feb. 11 at Sylacauga High School.
The loss in the area tournament marked the end of a 31-year coaching career for Wildcats’ coach Charles Dickinson, who led Shelby County to nine area tournament championships during his 26-year career with the Wildcats.
Tyler Madison led the Wildcats (10-14) with a game-high 26 points.
Ty Lollar added 19 points on five 3-point field goals in the defeat.
Shelby County fell behind 23-15 after the first quarter before Talladega increased its lead throughout the contest.
