Evangel Christian repeats as ACSC champions

The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated the Tuscaloosa Home Educators 60-44 at the Pete Hanna Center on the Samford University campus Feb. 12 to repeat as Alabama Christian Sports Conference champions.
DaJon Townson led the Lightning (20-1) with a game-high 21 points in the victory. Townson was named the ACSC tournament’s most valuable player
Mark Underwood added 12 points in the championship game. Aaron Walker contributed 10 points in the victory.
Andrew Frazier, who was named to the all-tournament team, chipped in seven points, five assists and three steals.
After falling behind 13-10 following the opening quarter, the Lightning rallied to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Evangel Christian clinched its second consecutive championship by outscoring the Tuscaloosa Home Educators 25-16 in the fourth quarter of the title game.
