Montevallo golfers compete at Newberry Invitational

The University of Montevallo women’s golf team finished 12th overall in team standings at the Newberry College Invitational on Feb. 15 at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Falcons were one of four Peach Belt Conference teams at the event. The University of North Carolina in Pembroke won the tournament, while Flagler College finished fifth and Armstrong Atlantic State University finished sixth.

Montevallo was led by freshman Tracey Marshall, who shot a two-round score of 178. Marshall finished tied for 43rd overall in individual standings at the tournament.

Sophomore Kaylee Hale finished 47th overall in individual standings with a score of 181, while freshman Hilary Shaner shot a 187 and finished in 51st overall in individual standings. Junior Emma Breen was just one shot and one spot behind Shaner with a score of 188 and finished 52nd overall in individual standings.

The final Montevallo golfer was freshman Kira Chaudhry, a Shelby County High School graduate, who carded a score of 199 and finished 60th in individual standings.
