Thompson defeats Jemison in opening tennis match

The Thompson High School girls’ tennis team defeated Jemison 9-0 in its opening match of the season Feb. 17.
The Warriors won all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against Jemison.
Laura Hardwell of Thompson defeated Brooke Bice of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 1 singles’ match. The Warriors’ Erin Hutter defeated Jemison’s Anna Davenport 8-0 in the No. 2 singles’ match.
Maria Siow of Thompson defeated Macey Thompson of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Olivia Sorrell of Thompson defeated Marissa Jones of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 4 singles’ match.
Thompson’s Anna Conn defeated Haley Smitherman of Jemison 8-4 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Emily Bolling of Thompson defeated Carly Pate of Jemison 8-1 in the No. 6 singles’ match.
Courtney Foster of Thompson defeated Jemison’s Tiffany Griffin of Jemison 8-0 in the an exhibition singles’ match. Jordan Hall of Thompson defeated Sara Brantley of Jemison 8-0 in an exhibition singles’ match.
Madison Cheek of Thompson defeated Allison Haynes of Jemison 8-1 in an exhibition singles’ match. Madison Layton of Thompson defeated Cyndi Chen of Jemison 8-0 in an exhibition singles’ match.
Hutter and Siow defeated Bice and Smitherman 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Hardwell and Conn downed Davenport and Tiffany Griffin of Jemison 8-0 in the No.2 doubles’ match.
Sorrell and Foster defeated Thompson and Jones 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles’ match. Hall and Layton defeated Pate and Haynes 8-1 in an exhibition doubles’ match.
