Oak Mountain High School junior Justin Woodall finished one victory shy of an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A individual wrestling championship Feb. 19 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

Woodall dropped a 6-5 decision to Terrence Smith of Lee-Montgomery in the 189-pound weight division championship match.

Woodall was one of four Oak Mountain wrestlers who earned a spot on the podium on the final day of the AHSAA Class 6A state tournament.

Freshman John David (J.D.) Peden finished sixth in the 103-pound weight division after dropping a 6-2 decision to Morgan Paugh of Vestavia Hills in his final match. Freshman Jared Godfrey finished fourth in the 125-pound weight division after being pinned by Corley Sims of Auburn in 1:47 in his final match.

Sophomore Jacob Parker finished sixth in the 130-pound weight division after dropping a 5-2 decision to Corey Parker of Buckhorn in his final match.

Oak Mountain finished 11th in team standings in the AHSAA Class 6A state tournament after racking up 62 points.
