The Briarwood Christian School girls’ tennis team defeated Trinity Presbyterian School 7-2 in its opening match of the 2011 season Feb. 24.

The Lions won all six singles’ matches and one doubles’ match against Trinity.

Katherine Combs of Briarwood Christian defeated K.K. Carlson of Trinity 8-6 in the No. 1 singles’ match. The Lions’ Susan Jordan defeated Laura Simeneau of Trinity 8-6 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Holly Brazeal of Briarwood Christian defeated Emma Wilcher of Trinity 8-4 in the No. 3 singles’ match. The Lions’ Catherine Jordan defeated Beth Birchfield of Trinity 8-4 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Olivia Odom of Briarwood Christian defeated Trinity’s Whitney Lott 8-1 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Lauren Bowers of Briarwood Christian defeated Dakin Hill of Trinity 8-5 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Brazeal and Odom defeated Wilcher and Birchfield 11-10 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.
