The Montevallo High School softball team fell to John Carroll Catholic 2-0 in its season-opening game Feb. 24.

Seventh-grader Destiny Upton went the distance in the circle and struck out 10 batters in the first game of the season. Both runs allowed by Upton were unearned.

Upton led the Bulldogs (0-1) at the plate as she finished 2-for-3. Savannah Smith, Bekah Fowler and Chelsey Wilson recorded one hit each for Montevallo.
