Pelham sweeps Brookwood in doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team edged Brookwood 3-2 in the opening game of a doubleheader before sweeping the two-game series with a 12-2 win in the nightcap in high school baseball action Feb. 24.

Tanner Jackson led the Panthers (4-0) at the plate with a two-run triple in the opener.

Parker Curry picked up the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks in four innings.

Hunter Soleymani struck out six batters and issued one walk in two innings in relief. Trevor Fitts earned his first save of the season after striking out the side in the seventh inning.

Ty Pierce led Pelham at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the nightcap.

Reed Bright went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Zach Canant gave up two runs, including one earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in a five-inning complete game.
