Briarwood advances to Kynerd tournament championship game

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team advanced to the championship game of its Jay D. Kynerd tournament following a 19-2 win over Leeds in its final pool play game Feb. 24.
Briarwood Christian will host Homewood in the championship game Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
The Lions (3-1) defeated Mountain Brook and St. Clair County in pool games. Briarwood Christian opened the tournament Feb. 21 with a 13-3 loss to Homewood.
Matthew Furuto led the Lions with three hits, including a home run, in the 19-2 win over Leeds.
Daniel Robert finished with two hits, including a home run. Barnes Bankston earned the win on the mound.
