Pelham downs Bessemer City in overtime in soccer match

The Pelham High School boys’ soccer team defeated Bessemer City 1-0 in overtime in a high school soccer match Feb. 24.

Trey Saville scored the game-winning goal from two yards in front of the goal off a deflection at the 2:38 mark in the first overtime period.

Oscar Pineda blasted a shot from 18 yards out and the ball hit a Bessemer City player before bouncing right to Saville, who put it away for the goal.

Pelham goalkeeper Hunter Payant finished with three saves in the shutout.
