Spain Park golfers win Invitational

The Spain Park High School boys’ golf team won the Blue Gray Invitational Feb. 28-March 1 in Montgomery.
The Jaguars cared a team total of 607 strokes in the two-day tournament, which placed them two strokes ahead of second-place Montgomery Academy.
Michael Johnson led Spain Park with his two-round total of 2-over par 146, which placed him third overall in individual standings.
Johnson fired an even-par 72 in the first round Feb. 28 at Wynlakes Country Club before carding a 2-over par 74 in the final round March 1 at Lagoon Park.
Daniel Schroder of Spain Park finished sixth overall in individual standings after posting a two-day total of 6-over par 150.
Schroder finished with a 5-over par 77 in the first round and carded a 1-over par 73 in the final round.
Vasili Kartos shot a two-day total of 154 strokes. Riley Smith finished with a two-round total of 160 strokes.
Jonathan Binder fired a two-round total of 165 strokes.
Oak Mountain also participated in the Blue Gray Invitational. The Eagles finished just outside the top eight teams with a two-day team score of 663 strokes.
