Briarwood Christian edges Pelham in Metro soccer tournament

The Briarwood Christian School girls’ soccer team defeated Pelham 5-3 in its Metro soccer tournament opener March 22.

Sarah Drew Mulvaney led the Lions (6-3-2) with two goals in the victory.

Lizzie Baumbach, Cat Cowen and Savannah Penny scored one goal each. Amanda Tucker led Briarwood Christian with two assists. Mulvaney and Anna Handlin shared goalkeeping duties for the Lions and recorded one save each.

Jessica Bird scored two goals and recorded one assist for the Panthers, who fell to 7-3.

Ashley Gardner scored one goal. Pelham goalkeeper Courtney Rawden finished with 12 saves.
