Shelby County softball defeats Briarwood Christian

The Shelby County High School softball team defeated Briarwood Christian 14-4 in high school softball action March 24.

Jecca Carden led the Wildcats (6-1) at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with a home run. Carden drove in four runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Brianna Buie, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Kaitlyn Paschall, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Courtney Shields went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jaselyn Harrison, Victoria Adams and Brittani Morris finished with two hits each.

Paschall (3-1) picked up the win in the circle after giving up three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks in a five-inning complete game.

Caroline Seay led Briarwood Christian (4-1) at the plate as she finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the first inning. Seay drove in one run and scored two runs.

Rachel Walz went 1-for-1 and scored two runs. Ashlyn Boyd and Sarah Kate Bracewell finished with one hit each.

Linley Splawn took the loss in the circle after giving up 12 earned runs on 14 hits with three walks in 4 2/3 innings.
