Coosa Valley splits doubleheader in softball tournament

The Coosa Valley Academy softball team split a doubleheader March 24 in the East Memorial Christian Academy softball tournament.
The Rebels defeated host East Memorial 12-4 in their opener.
Kala Shaw, who was 4-5, led Coosa Valley at the plate.
Shelby Hurt finished 3-for-5. Hannah Vick, Katelyn Bierely and Alyssa Holmes each went 2-4. Amelia Ripley, Hope Myrick, Sky Brasher and Kaylan Rich finished with one hit each.
Vick earned the win in the circle after striking out seven batters in a complete game.
Coosa Valley fell to Prattville Christian 9-6 in the nightcap.
Ripley led the Rebels at the plate as she finished 2-for-4.
Hurt added a double. Vick, Bierely, Shaw, Myrick, Rich and Holmes finished with one hit each.
Myrick, who struck out eight batters, took the loss in the circle.
