Briarwood Christian completes sweep of Shelby County

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team completed a sweep of Shelby County in Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 play with a 14-4 win over the Wildcats in the second game of the two-game series March 25.

Logan Crook led the Lions at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 with two home runs. Crook drove in three runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Daniel Robert, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-4 with two doubles. Harrison Foster, who drove in two runs, finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Ben Craft, who drove in three runs and scored two runs, finished 1-for-4 with a home run. Robby Hale, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 1-for-4 with a double.

Matthew Furuto finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sam Morris went 1-for-1. Dan Thomas finished 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kevin McKelvey finished 1-for-1 and drove in a run.

Barnes Bankston earned the win on the mound after giving up four earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts in a five-inning complete game.

Mike Pate led Shelby County at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 with a double. Pate drove in one run and scored two runs.

Evan McNeal, who drove in a run and scored a run, went 1-for-2 with a triple. Eric Wilcox finished 1-for-2 and drove in a run.

Trey Howard went 1-for-2 and scored a run. Jacob Tidmore finished 1-for-3. Josh Pennington went 1-for-2.

McNeal started on the mound and took the loss after giving up five earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

Dakota Falkner allowed one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts in one inning in relief. Wilcox and Tyler Sims pitched the final inning.
