Falcons fall on the road at UAH

The University of Montevallo baseball team fell to the University of Alabama in Huntsville 7-2 in the second game between the two teams this season March 30.
Montevallo (14-16) won the first game at home earlier this season 9-5 and will play the rubber match April 20 at UAH.
The Falcons were led in the game by senior Josh Dabbs, who was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of home runs and a walk. Dabbs drove in two runs and scored two runs.
Junior Blaine Rosenberg, an Oak Mountain graduate, was 2-for-4 at the plate. Sophomore Austin Dubberly, a Pelham graduate, and freshman Justin Burgess each had a double.
Sophomore Devon Davis started the game on the mound and pitched 4 1/3 innings with a pair of strikeouts and a pair of walks. Davis (0-1) took home the loss.
Junior Brett Roney pitched the next 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts while allowing just one earned run. The final Montevallo pitcher was senior Scott Deason, a Spain Park graduate, who gave up just one hit with one strikeout in one inning.
UAH scored a run in the first inning and the third inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Chargers tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
Montevallo finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning, as Dabbs hit a two-out home run to right field for his seventh homer of the season.
UAH answered with two more runs in the seventh inning to take a 7-1 lead. The Falcons’ final run came in the eighth inning, as Dabbs blasted a two-out home run to right field for his eighth homer of the season.
