Chelsea falls to Sylacauga in area contest

The Chelsea High School baseball team dropped its second straight Class 5A, Area 7 contest to Sylacauga following a 7-3 loss to the Aggies in area play April 1.
The Hornets (11-9 overall, 2-2 in Class 5A, Area 7) posted one run in the second inning and two runs in the seventh inning in the loss.
Sophomore Tripp Hobbs (4-2) started on the mound for Chelsea and went 2 2/3 innings. Hobbs gave up six runs, including five earned runs, on six hits with two strikeouts. Senior Jake Campbell pitched the remaining 3 1/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits with six strikeouts.
The Hornets’ bats remained cold for the second game in a row after managing only three runs on five hits.
Junior Joey Mock was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit solo home run in the top of the seventh inning.
Jake Campbell went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles. Tres Gregg and Alex Dean had one hit each for Chelsea.
