Briarwood Christian tops Sylacauga in tennis match

The Briarwood Christian School boys’ tennis team defeated Sylacauga 7-2 in a high school tennis match April 5.
The Lions won five of the six singles’ matches and two of the three doubles’ matches against Sylacauga.
Griffin Russell of Briarwood Christian defeated Nathanell Killough of Sylacauga 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles’ match. Taylor Brewton of Briarwood Christian defeated Will Killough of Sylacauga 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles’ match.
Russell Hancock defeated Andrew Collins of Sylacauga 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles’ match. Philip Taylor of Briarwood Christian defeated Tyler Mitchell of Briarwood Christian 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles’ match.
Brent Durrett of Briarwood Christian defeated Collin Minor of Sylacauga 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles’ match.
Russell and Hancock defeated Nathanell Killough and Mitchell 10-2 in the No. 2 doubles’ match. Taylor and Durrett defeated Will Killough and Cary Kimber of Sylacauga 10-1 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
GIRLS
The Briarwood Christian School girls’ tennis team defeated Sylacauga 9-0 in high school tennis action April 5.
The Lions swept all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against Sylacauga.
Katherine Combs of Briarwood Christian defeated Raylee Usrey of Sylacauga 10-3 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Susan Jordan of Briarwood Christian defeated Kathleen Giddens of Sylacauga 10-4 in the No. 2 singles’ match.
Holly Brazeal of Briarwood Christian defeated Lauren Potts of Sylacauga 10-3 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Catherine Jordan of Briarwood Christian defeated Madeline Potts of Sylacauga 10-0 in the No. 4 singles’ match.
Olivio Odom of Briarwood Christian defeated Amelia Landers of Sylacauga 10-0 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Melanie Siddle of Briarwood Christian defeated Amber Holloway of Sylacauga 10-0 in the No. 6 singles’ match.
Combs and Susan Jordan defeated Usrey and Giddens 10-2 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Brazeal and Odom defeated Lauren and Madeline Potts 10-1 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.
Siddle and Catherine Jordan defeated Kara Rhodes and Shelby Reeves of Sylacauga 10-3 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
