Thompson drops area game against Hoover

The Thompson High School baseball team dropped its first Class 6A, Area 10 game of the season April 5 following a 19-8 loss to Hoover.

Skylar Estell led the Warriors (22-10 overall, 2-1 in Class 6A, Area 10) at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a double. Estell drove in one run and scored one run.

Alex Henderson finished 1-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Jon Keller went 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run. Conner Gill finished 1-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

Matt Haskins, who drove in two runs and scored a run, finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Taylor Bria, who drove in one run and scored one run, also went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Chad Collum finished 1-for-3 and scored a run.Guss Williford and Ian Murray drove in one run each.

Mason Morris (5-1) took the loss on the mound after giving up four earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in two innings.

Aron McRee allowed 13 earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings in relief.

Jake Hester gave up two earned runs on one hit with a strikeout and four walks in one inning. Estell pitched the final inning.
